What is common sense?
1 09 2008Is there a similarity between common sense and logic..Or one derives another..Or they both are same..
I was just wondering!!
Dictionary meaning might be the same, but I feel that Logic(al reasoning) can be gathered by practice and following the rules. That’s why LOGIC can be programmed in a computer. But not common sense.
It takes a little more than just sheer logic to have common sense. (No offences meant to those who did swear by their LOGICAL prowers)
As they say, common sense is quite uncommon.
So what is Common sense..
I don’t know what others have said about it, but I feel common sense is the ability to come to the most probable result to a set of events. At every step, you go by your instinct + logic + experience + (something extra) to arrive at a probable outcome….and a series of outcomes for each step will lead to final conclusion. The accuracy comes with experience.
I don’t know what others think about it…but I would still prefer possessing COMMON SENSE than plain LOGIC.
